Con la participaci\u00f3n del co-fundador del movimiento BDS, Omar Barghouti, y la coordinadora europea de la Campa\u00f1a, Riya Hassan, el Foro BDS reafirma el derecho de los municipios, diputaciones y cabildos a lanzar campa\u00f1as de boicot a Israel y vincular la compra p\u00fablica de productos y la contrataci\u00f3n de servicios al cumplimiento de la legislaci\u00f3n internacional y los Derechos Humanos.<\/span><\/p>\n

En el simb\u00f3lico D\u00eda Internacional de Conmemoraci\u00f3n en Memoria de las V\u00edctimas del Holocausto, se alza la voz por las v\u00edctimas y a favor del cumplimiento del derecho internacional de los derechos humanos, normativa que supuso la cristalizaci\u00f3n de la humanidad por evitar nuevas atrocidades. <\/span><\/p>\n

El encuentro re\u00fane a m\u00e1s de cincuenta representantes p\u00fablicos de entidades locales de todo el Estado espa\u00f1ol con el objetivo de dise\u00f1ar estrategias comunes para la defensa de los Derechos Humanos en Palestina.<\/span><\/p>\n

El <\/span>Foro BDS para el Impulso de Iniciativas Institucionales <\/i><\/span>es un primer paso hacia la creaci\u00f3n de la Red Estatal de Municipios ELAI (Espacios Libres de Apartheid Israel\u00ed) por la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos . <\/span><\/p>\n

La Campa\u00f1a Boicot, Desinversiones y Sanciones (BDS) es un movimiento internacional de Derechos Humanos, liderado por la sociedad civil palestina, que clama por la libertad, la justicia y la igualdad del pueblo palestino. El BDS busca generar la presi\u00f3n internacional suficiente que lleve a Israel al cumplimiento del Derecho Internacional. <\/span><\/p>\n

Desde 2014, uno de los mayores \u00e9xitos de la Campa\u00f1a BDS en el Estado espa\u00f1ol es la puesta en marcha de la iniciativa <\/span>Espacios Libres de Apartheid Israel\u00ed<\/i><\/span> (ELAI). A trav\u00e9s de la aprobaci\u00f3n de mociones de solidaridad con el pueblo palestino, se ha logrado la adhesi\u00f3n de 60 consistorios, diputaciones y cabildos al BDS. Esto supone un movimiento sin precedentes a nivel global. <\/span><\/p>\n

Este logro ha venido acompa\u00f1ado por la reacci\u00f3n de Israel que respondi\u00f3 con ataques jur\u00eddicos, pol\u00edticos y medi\u00e1ticos contra los ayuntamientos y las entidades locales que aprueban mociones de apoyo a Palestina, junto con difamaciones y amenazas a activistas, instituciones y representantes p\u00fablicos con el objetivo de desactivar las estrategias de Boicot a Israel. <\/span><\/p>\n

La ofensiva de Israel se oculta bajo la figura de organizaciones sionistas que, con total opacidad, operan en nuestro pa\u00eds atacando las libertades civiles y amenazando la democracia y la soberan\u00eda locales. <\/span><\/p>\n

En este contexto, el Foro BDS representa <\/span><\/span>la primera ocasi\u00f3n en la que entidades locales que respaldan la Campa\u00f1a ELAI, estar\u00e1n con otros representantes p\u00fablicos de diez comunidades aut\u00f3nomas del Estado. Debatir\u00e1n las diferentes estrategias para profundizar su compromiso por la defensa de los Derechos Humanos y frenar las pr\u00e1cticas que desde el lobby israel\u00ed amenazan con socavar la democracia local, y ponen en riesgo la libertad de expresi\u00f3n. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ataques a activistas y defensores\/as de los DDHH<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Los ataques inducidos por Israel contra el movimiento BDS incluyen las presiones hacia gobiernos, legisladores, legisladoras y oficiales <\/span>para que luchen contra las actividades del BDS, mediante la implementaci\u00f3n de medidas de represi\u00f3n<\/i><\/span><\/a>, lo que supone una amenaza para las libertades civiles y pol\u00edticas en su conjunto.<\/span><\/p>\n

En el Estado espa\u00f1ol, Israel promueve un clima de criminalizaci\u00f3n del movimiento BDS con denuncias a defensores y defensoras de los derechos humanos en los tribunales. Es un intento de acallar las voces cr\u00edticas con la ocupaci\u00f3n y los cr\u00edmenes internacionales de Israel, un r\u00e9gimen de apartheid. <\/span><\/p>\n

M\u00e1s de <\/span>350 organizaciones de derechos humanos europeas<\/i><\/span><\/a>, sindicatos, grupos de iglesias y partidos pol\u00edticos, han apelado a la Uni\u00f3n Europea a que defienda el derecho de ciudadanos y ciudadanas y organizaciones a hacer boicot a Israel, como respuesta a la ocupaci\u00f3n y violaciones de los derechos del pueblo palestino.<\/span><\/p>\n

Representantes de los gobiernos sueco, irland\u00e9s y holand\u00e9s<\/a> han defendido p\u00fablicamente el derecho a defender y luchar por los derechos del pueblo palestino, de acuerdo con el Derecho Internacional, a trav\u00e9s del BDS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, Amnist\u00eda Internacional, la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de los Derechos Humanos (FIDH) y m\u00e1s de m\u00e1s de 30 europarlamentarias y europarlamentarios, incluida Federica Moguerini, Alta Representante de la UE para Asuntos Exteriores, han<\/span> condenado los ataques a defensores y defensoras de derechos humanos y han confirmado el derecho de la ciudadan\u00eda europea a la Libertad de Expresi\u00f3n y Asociaci\u00f3n, incluyendo su participaci\u00f3n en el movimiento liderado desde Palestina de Boicot, Desinversi\u00f3n y Sanciones (BDS)<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Dozens of local entities claim their Right to Boycott Israel in Donostia-San Sebastian <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a><\/a> The<\/span><\/span> BDS Forum to Promote Institutional Initiatives in Defence of Human Rights in Palestine <\/i><\/span><\/span>shall be held from 8:30 on Friday 27 January 2017 at Miramar Palace, Donostia-San Sebastian. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event has been organized by Mundubat Foundation and is promoted by the Solidarity Network against the Occupation of Palestine (RESCOP). <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With the participation of the co-founder of the BDS movement, Omar Barghouti, and the European coordinator of the Campaign, Riya Hassan, the BDS Forum reasserts the right of provincial, municipal and town councils to launch campaigns to boycott Israel and link the public procurement of products and services to compliance with international law and Human Rights.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On the symbolic International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, a voice is raised for the victims and in favour of compliance with International Human Rights Law, which implied the crystallization of humanity to prevent new atrocities. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting held in Donostia-San Sebastian shall bring together more than fifty representatives from all over the Spanish state in order to devise some common strategies to defend Human Rights in Palestine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span><\/span>BDS Forum to Promote Institutional Initiatives <\/i><\/span><\/span>is a first step towards the establishment of the State Network of ELAI (Spaces Free from Israeli Apartheid) Municipalities in defence of Human Rights. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Boycott, Disinvestments and Sanctions (BDS) campaign is an international Human Rights movement led by the Palestinian civil society which claims freedom, justice and equality for Palestinian people. The BDS seeks to generate sufficient international pressure to make Israel comply with International Law. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2014, one of the greatest successes of the BDS Campaign in the Spanish state has been the implementation of the initiative <\/span><\/span>Spaces Free from Israeli Apartheid<\/i><\/span><\/span> (ELAI). Through the approval of motions in solidarity with Palestinian people, 60 town, city and provincial councils have joined the BDS. This is an unprecedented movement at the global level. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This achievement has brought about the reaction of Israel, which responded with legal, political and media attacks against those town and city councils which approve motions in support of Palestine, together with slander and threats to activists, institutions and public representatives so as to deactivate the strategies to boycott Israel. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s offensive hides behind the figure of Zionist organizations which, with complete opacity, operate in our country and attack civil liberties and threat local democracy and sovereignty. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this context, the BDS Forum represents the first occasion on which local organizations which support the ELAI Campaign shall meet with other public representatives from ten autonomous communities of the state. They will discuss the various strategies to go further into their commitment to the defence of Human Rights and to restrain the practices by the Israeli lobby which threaten to undermine local democracy and jeopardize freedom of expression. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Attacks to Human Rights activists and defenders<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The attacks induced by Israel against the BDS movement include pressing governments, legislators and officials to combat the activities of the BDS by implementing repressive measures, which involves a threat to civil and political liberties as a whole.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the Spanish state, Israel promotes the criminalization of the BDS movement by taking human rights defenders to court. It is an attempt to silence the voices which criticize the occupation and the international crimes of Israel, a system of apartheid.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More than <\/span><\/span>350 European human rights organizations, trade unions, groups of churches and political parties have requested the European Union to defend the right of citizens and organizations to boycott Israel as a response to the occupation and violations of the rights of Palestinian people<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Representatives from the Swedish, Irish and Dutch governments have publicly defended the right to defend and fight for the rights of Palestinian people, under International Law, through the BDS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, Amnesty International, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and more than 30 Euro-MPs, including Federica Moguerini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, have condemned the attacks to human rights defenders and have confirmed the right of European citizens to Freedom of Expression and Association, including their participation in the Palestine-led Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS)<\/a> movement.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
